False Creek 2012 (Vancouver, BC)

Recently, after seeing a preview for 2012 (which looked amazing, by the way), I have decided to practice my Photoshop skills and try to come up with something similar, except in one of my home towns - Vancouver, BC. Movies of epic proportions, such as The Day After Tomorrow have always fascinated me mainly because of all the special effects. This is definitely an area where any 3D/special effects geeks can go nuts, so me being one of them, here is my idea of "2012".

This is by no means a finished piece but more of a rough "draft". I just couldn't wait to show it to some of my friends/family. I will update this post if I decide to finish this. For a high resolution version, go here. If you decide to post this somewhere, please link back to this page. Thanks!

Very nice, miss my hometown.

Very nice,
miss my hometown. After looking at the helicopter on the foreground (which looks a bit unnatural), I figured that if you added a bit of depth of field effect, than the whole composite would've looked much better. The foreground ripples on the water would've been blured a bit too. Overall you did a very good job though.

Thanks for the comment. The reason why it's blurry is because it's moving very fast. Take a look at some of the cars/boats that get thrown around at the beginning of the bridge. More of a motion blur rather than a depth of field. :)

Thank you! I might put one together if I have some free time. :)

Wow, nice composition.

It would be very good to see a tutorial on how to do this kind of stuff using photoshop.
